We decided to go to Bangkok after a one night stay in Chanthaburi. There were lots of buses to go to Bangkok. It was easy and smooth. I’d like to share the details about the bus from Chanthaburi to Bangkok; how much it cost and how long the journey was.
Buses from Chanthaburi to Bangkok
The bus to Bangkok departs from the bus terminal in Chanthaburi which is located in the north of Somdej Pra Chao Tak Sin Maharat Public Park.
There were a couple of bus companies who operate buses to Bangkok. Some buses go to Ekamai bus terminal in Bangkok and others go to Mochit bus terminal.
How much it cost from Chanthaburi to Bangkok by bus
We bought tickets with Cherdchai Tour which cost us 196 Baht each, after making sure it was a big bus(not a “VIP” minibus”).
Before that, we asked the price from another bus company. They also said that it would be 200 Baht. The prices were not much different but Cherdchai Tour, but they had buses more often than other company.
How long it takes to Bangkok from Chanthaburi
We went to the bus terminal in the morning and bought the tickets for the bus at 9:30. On the tickets, there were seat numbers written.
Our bus arrived at the platform at 9:15 and the bus conductor indicated us to get on the bus. She checked our tickets and led us to our seats.
The bus left Chanthaburi at 9:30 on time. The conductor gave us small bottles of water. The seats were very comfortable and it was quiet on the bus.
The bus stopped a few time to pick up more passengers and stopped for 20 minutes for a toilet break. There was a toilet on the bus too.
Also, they had to stop a couple of time at the “checking points”. It seemed like police checks, but we were not sure what they were checking; they were checking the bus and luggage. It was not the ID check of passengers.
We arrived in Bangkok, Ekamai bus terminal at 2:00 pm. It was a 4.5 hours journey.
